Adorable Dogs Eat Popcorn

Popcorn always finds its way into couch cushions and onto the floor, where our dogs are happy to "hoover" them up. However, can dogs eat popcorn?

Nothing brings more joy to most dogs than helping you clean up after movie night.  Popcorn always finds its way into couch cushions and onto the floor, where our dogs are happy to “hoover” them up. So sit back, relax and enjoy watching these two adorable dogs eat popcorn.

The question most of us forget to ask ourselves, however, can dogs eat popcorn?

According to the American Kennel Club, the answer is Yes and no. Plain, air-popped popcorn is safe for dogs to eat in small quantities. Buttered popcorn or popcorn with other toppings is not safe for your dog on a regular basis, although eating a few dropped pieces here and there probably won’t hurt him. As with any treat, too much popcorn is not good for your dog.

The bottom line is that flavor-free popcorn doesn’t pose any severe health risks for your canine pal. If your furry pet begs some popcorn, do make sure to avoid popcorn with salt, butter, caramel or various other sweeteners as this can lead to a wide range of health problems.  Also, make sure that your dog does not swallow unpinned kernels.
