Animal activists are thought to be behind the freeing of more than 200 beagles used for drug testing in the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The dogs were in devastating condition, most with their fur shaved; one dog was found with no eyes while another was found dead and mutilated, frozen in liquid nitrogen. Police have refused to take action as animal drug testing is legal in Brazil. The drug testing lab has described the animal activists' rescue of the beagles as "an act of terrorism."
