Marine Corp Dog that lost leg in Bomb Blast awarded Medal

The German Shepherd (Lucca) served for 8 years with the U.S. Marine Corps with two different Marine handlers. Cpl. Juan Rodriguez was the handler when Lucca was hit be a massive explosion that caused her to lose her leg. Semper Fi is the motto of the U.S. Marines meaning "Always Faithful" and Lucca exemplifies this motto to the fullest. Watch the video below:

The People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA) Dickin Medal was awarded to Lucca.  The award recognizes “outstanding acts of bravery or devotion to duty displayed by animals” during war, and is the highest honor for a military animal.   Lucca is now retired and living happily with her first handler.   Here is a video of Lucca with her fellow Marines:
