Going to the doctor can be a stressful experience for anyone, so imagine what it does to dogs. Playing music to calm a nervous pup at the vet’s office is common — but sometimes your patient just needs a little extra help relaxing. In this video, veterinarian Ross Henderson played guitar and sang to soothe golden retriever Ruby’s nerves. Practice manager Darcy Holloway of Fox Hollow Animal Hospital recorded a video of the tender moment of the young veterinarian as he grabs his guitar and strums a tune that brings Ruby to a calm, relaxed level. Henderson sings Elvis Presley’s “I Can’t Help Falling In Love” to Ruby, who was about to go into surgery.
The sweet sounds seemed to calm Ruby — who is draped over his lap as he sings while playing the song on his acoustic guitar. When he is done singing, he checks on the dog and sees that he’s done the job.
